- Recharges from any USB power supply

Choosing the right one
Before buying an EID stick reader, check which tag technology your animals carry and make sure the reader supports it; this one handles HDX and FDX-B tags and boluses that comply with ISO 11784/5. Then think about how you scan. A permanent read mode suits fast work such as loading trucks, while push-and-read saves battery when you scan animals one at a time. Also consider how many records you need to keep on the reader and whether grouping them, for example by camp or consignment, would help your record keeping.
